Well first off congrats Dark Link! Did you do this one in Finale 08? It’s pretty good but my comment for this is basically the same for the Gannondorf battle fro OoT. Quality’s good, potential’s there, but still for being a big battle I wonder why Kondo didn’t make them have a bit more feeling. Yeah I know it’s supposed to loop and all but still (this one loops great BTW). So like the one from OoT got, 4 out of 5.
Am I missing something? I was under the impression this site was dedicated to transcriptions. So why do so many comments suggest that this site is another OCRemix? To say the piece “has potential” is a bit odd, seeing that it has already been written by Koji Kondo. Our job is to recreate the original accurately using enhanced instrumentation. These are NOT arrangements/remixes.
As a transcription, I think the sound quality is very nice. The instruments used sound excellent, but I do feel many key harmonies from the original are missing, that the piano/timpani bass rhythm duo sounds a bit muddy, and that the song fades away at the most climatic part. It sounds incomplete, I guess is what I’m saying, but with a little polishing and richer chords, it could sound amazing.
5/5 Yay! More Ganondorf! I love his insanity!
Also, can you do the OoT Mid Boss Music? Please?
I agree with Vruliic with this “potential” stuff. Just as he she says, the music starts fading at a bad time and it seems to fade for a long time. I loved the sound the first dozen times, but now I am thinking this does have room for improvement. I still love it, don’t get me wrong…
too many critics; this project cannot be found anywhere else, i think it should be appreciated.
the music is phe-nominal, as jim rome would say it. excellent work, brings back some good memories. two enthusiastic thumbs up
@ Vruliic:
I know what is done here is not Remixes/Arrangements as you put it. I know it’s called Zelda Reorchestrated for a reason. I know we aren’t OCRemix and I cringe when others say that too. The reason I said “potential” is basically because of the same as you said. The quality is great, the kind I’ve come to expect coming out of ZREO. Now I’ll admit I’ve never heard the in-game but I can tell when a song is a little off track. The song fading out at what sounded like the part where it sounded it was getting good really put me off. In addition, as you remarked as well, the instruments could use some work by which I mean sounding less dull; as you put it “richer.” Now believe me, I hate having to criticize work coming from ZREO, especially Dark Link, who on the forum clearly shows has extremely talented he is.
The short version of all that: what I meant is the song needs a little patching up but is very good overall.
@ MasterOfTheLegend:
No requests accepted.
@ Qureshi Sahab:
Critics lead to improvement and are sometimes needed. I’ve been a fan of ZREO for a while now and I think I speak for a lot of the others here that we do appreciate this project. It’s one of a kind because ZREO is not a site for the remixing/arranging/etc. of music; they are a site that brings beautiful reorchs of Zelda music to the world. In fact, all the OoT music is what inspired me to buy and play OoT.
No requests accepted? How would you know?
But I do agree OoT really inspired me in my music and in more Zelda.
He’s been around here for a while, is a mod on the chat, and hes right.
No requests. We’ll do it all eventually.
Im listening to Hyrule Field right now too.
