ZREO’s music and Licensing

Posted Monday, November 17th, 2008 in News.

Hey guys, I’ve been seeing questions popup a few times regarding using our music in a movie, game, fan project, etc. The answer is, yes, you can use it. However, only under the following limitations:

  • The project can not be commercial
  • Credit must be given somewhere in the project, such as the credits
  • We’d prefer if you sent us a link or description of your project as well. This is optional, but would be in good taste.
I hope that clears up any questions about what you can use our music for. We appreciate your interest!

Awesome! I may end up using these sometime, I may not. Still, it’s good to know your excellent music can be used elsewhere. Thanks!

Hey guys! About this - it’s great! thanks for letting us know about it. We all really appreciate it!

I have a question about it though! I want to know what ‘commercial’ would be. I want to ender this project: http://www.atlanticfilm.com/view/challenges.php as I did last year, and copyrihted material is not allowed. Would you guys allow me to use your music? (Obviously I would credit and link the music multiple times)

As long as people don’t have to pay to see it.

Forgive me if this is a stupid question, but won’t Nintendo have a problem with using the music from their games?

I’d quite like to use the lake hylia soundscape for a flash portfolio of an artists work for my uni coursework.

I believe we sent them a letter ages ago that the project exists. Sam has a better, longer, and boringer legal reason why we should be OK.

New question: Do you own the rights to the reorchestrated versions, or do they still belong to Nintendo?

I believe we own the rights to the Reorchs. All original tracks belong to Nintendo.
