Wtf is with this Year so far?

Hey all,

When things go bad, boy, do they go bad. Last thursday, my damn Power Supply for my computer blew up, a 600 Watt power supply. Thankfully I bought a 1600 watt power supply replacement, and JUST got the computer up and running as I type this. Tonight should have been the second installment of Open Symphony, but that has been pushed back until next week.

Feel free to join the chatroom and yell at me, :P

Changes

Hey there everyone..

This week, we have a short piece from Twilight Princess, but a very interesting one - a first for ZREO actually. This song features a ‘real’ choir per say, you’ll just have to hear for yourself. The song is ‘Get Fused Shadow’.

Some may have noticed that the Chatroom was down for most of the past week - we needed to replace a RAM stick in the server, and the IRCD server failed to start. Anyway, it’s back up, and we’ll be there. Again, please be patient in the chatroom; if someone doesnt respond to you right away, don’t worry, we ARE there. Just give us time ;)

My friends, there comes a time when one must realize a poor investment and simply cut one’s losses. It has become apparent that we, as a community, are not liked and detested by the members of our hosted forum’s community. Growing hostilities and unpleasantness has forced us, as a community, to move our forums to another website and another community where we can continue to grow in a positive environment. This decision was a high-level staff decision over the course of the last few months. That said, I would like to point out that it was only a choice few from the HTLOZ community that has made this happen, and I really have no ill feelings about a large majority of the HTLOZ Staff, one of them being a good deal involved with the reformation of ZREO.

Our good friends at Zentendo.com have graciously opened their arms to our community. I’d like to extend my thanks out to TSA, metallica48423, and the entire Zentendo staff for allowing us this opportunity. I have the utmost confidence that this new partnership will be a long-lasting one. The links at the top and bottom of our site have been updated and will take you directly to the new community. Unfortunately, due to forum incompatibilities, every user will need to re-register at the new forums. It’s a new start for everyone.

Please be sure to read the welcome post.

Finally, one of the newer editors at Zentendo, Tim Higdon, has written an extensive editorial on the entire ZREO Project from birth to present. It is DEFINITELY worth a read. [Read]

Looks like that’s all for this week. Take care guys, and see you all on the new forums.

Friday Update =( v2

Hey guys..

A pretty terrible thing happened a week ago today - all of the data on my 1 TB Hard drive was lost - nearly half of all my data. ZREO was on there, but luckily not a few hours before the crash (literal) I had made a complete backup of ZREO, but I lost most of my Samples. Just got my replacement 1 TB HDD Yesterday and have been in the process of backing up and restoring all of my data, so no release this week. Check back next week for the Next song.

Staff Credits Redux & Birthday Wishes

Apparently we had an error. Staff Credits Redux was the same song as the original when you listened to it on the Listen page. The error has now been fixed and you can enjoy it here.

Thanks Tim for directing our attention to this!

On another note, today is Fire’s birthday! He turns 19. HAHA! Anyway, send him some of your love in the comments section!

Phantom Hourglass Art Added!

Well, I finally received Phantom Hourglass for Christmas this year. I must say, it is a fantastic game! I can only hope more Zelda games will be like this one. It is truly revolutionary! Phantom Hourglass moves the series forward just as Ocarina of Time did over six years ago. It’s a great time to be a Zelda fan!

Now that I’ve had a chance to play a bit of the game and get a feel for what its about, I finally present to you the Phantom Hourglass CD Art. Check it out in the Art section.

I apologize for not having the Phantom Hourglass art finished much earlier. There were two reasons for this. One, I had only a vague idea what Phantom Hourglass was all about. I did not want to create an uninspired piece of art that looked similar to The Wind Waker’s art. Second, I wanted to play the game to find the appropriate imagery and inspiration for such art. Now, after playing a good portion of the game (and loving every minute of it), I decided what look I wanted to achieve with this piece.

You see, I really wanted to avoid a Wind Waker replica. I knew I wanted the Phantom Hourglass art to feature the ocean, but the challenge was to make it look interesting and completely different than The Wind Waker. I knew that having another image of an ocean would be a given. For that same reason, this was the most difficult cover to work on, in terms of planning and the imagery I wanted to achieve. I had started working on the design for this cover months before the game was released in the US… and only until last night was I able to complete the look I was happy with.

Now for those of you who’ve all ready played through the game, you might think my cover art is a bit too dark for the game. On one hand, you’d be right. On the other, the image of the ghost ship on the cover of the box art - and the sequence of events that lead you to the ship in the game - stuck out so clearly in my mind, I knew it had to be the focus of ZREO’s cover art.

I had stumbled upon a magnificent painting of a ghost ship that I simply had to include in this art as well (unfortunately and oddly enough, I couldn’t find an artist name to credit for this contribution)! Naturally, that led to a dark and mature tone for Phantom Hourglass’ cover art - a great contrast from The Wind Waker’s cover design. I hope you all like the way it turned out!
